FAQs

Shipping, Returns, & Refunds

Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Because each piece is handmade in small batches and JUL Ceramics is a small, one-person business, I’m unable to accept returns or exchanges at this time.

What if my order arrives damaged?
Please email hello@julceramics.com as soon as you receive your package with photos of the damaged item(s) and the original packaging. Once I’ve reviewed the photos, I’ll issue a full refund for the damaged item(s), including shipping charges.

When will my order ship?
Orders are carefully packaged and shipped within 5 business days of purchase.

Where do you ship?
JUL Ceramics currently ships within the 48 contiguous United States. At this time, I don’t offer international shipping — but I hope to soon!

How are your ceramics packaged?
Whenever possible, I reuse clean boxes and packing materials to reduce waste and minimize environmental impact. Your order may arrive in recycled packaging, but it will always be packed with care. It may not be the prettiest package on the outside, but inside your ceramics await!

The Pieces

Will my piece look exactly like the photos?
I do my best to accurately represent each piece, but colors may vary slightly due to photography, lighting, and individual screen or device settings.

Why are there variations in color, size, or shape?
Why are there variations in color, size, or shape? Every piece is individually handmade, so no two pieces are exactly alike. Variations can happen during the throwing, casting, trimming, glazing, and firing processes. These subtle differences are part of what makes handmade ceramics unique.

Are small imperfections normal?
Yes! Small variations, marks, speckles, pinholes, slight changes in glaze, or other minor imperfections can occur naturally in handmade ceramics. These are considered part of the character of each piece. No piece is sold unless it is both beautiful and functional.

Shop & Restocks

Will you restock sold-out pieces?
Some pieces are made in small batches and may be restocked, while others are one-of-a-kind or limited editions. If there’s a piece you’re hoping to see again, join the mailing list or follow along on Instagram for restock announcements.

When do you restock?
Restocks happen periodically and vary depending on what I’m making (and my day-job schedule!). There isn’t always a set timetable, but restocks and new collections will be announced ahead of time.

What’s the best way to stay updated on new releases and store drops?
Sign up for the mailing list and follow along on Instagram for new collections, restocks, fresh pieces, and other shop news. That’s where I’ll share the latest first.

Custom Orders & Commissions

Do you accept custom orders?
Sometimes! If you’d like an existing piece in a different size, color, or quantity, reach out and I’ll let you know what’s possible.

Do you take commissions?
On occasion! If you have an idea for something completely custom, send me the details and we can chat about bringing it to life.

Care & Use

Are your ceramics food safe, dishwasher safe, and microwave safe?
Drinkware, barware, and dinnerware pieces are always food safe. While they are generally dishwasher and microwave safe, hand washing is strongly recommended to help preserve the finish and reduce the risk of chipping or accidental breakage, and to avoid sudden temperature changes.

How should I care for my ceramics?
A little TLC goes a long way! Hand wash with gentle dish soap when possible, avoid sudden temperature changes, and handle your handmade pieces with care.
