Hi! I’m Julia, the maker behind JUL Ceramics.

I make handmade functional and decorative ceramics inspired by nature, animals, funny little ideas, and good quotes.

I like my ceramics a little quirky, but I make each piece with intention. My work often carries a message... sometimes obvious, sometimes hidden, and sometimes simply meant to make you smile.

I started learning ceramics in 2019 and quickly became enamored with the magic of clay. Though I consider myself an “anti-perfectionist,” when I throw a flawless piece on the wheel or open the kiln to a glaze combination that is unexpectedly wonderful, there is no more satisfying feeling.

I have been lucky in my ceramics journey to have had wonderful teachers and instructors, and though there is always more to learn and improve upon, I am now so grateful to have my own home studio. 

I’m currently based between New York and Baltimore, where I make, glaze, fire, and dream up the next batch of things.
